CHICAGO -- The new way of practicing medicine will involve fewer office visits and more between-visit engagement with patients, Danny Sands, MD, MPH, said here.

"We all know we spend too much on healthcare in the U.S. -- $200 billion on avoidable chronic condition costs and $125 billion in routine or unnecessary visits," said Sands, who is chief medical officer at Conversa Health, a digital healthcare company in San Rafael, Calif., at the annual meeting of the Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society.
